5 Reasons You Should Apply for the 2023 Kenyan Agri-Drone Business Competition

The Kenyan Drone Business Competition is back for its second edition, and it's bigger and better than ever. Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy Kenya, the competition is open to all Kenyan citizens and residents aged 18-35 who are looking to develop their entrepreneurial skills and create innovative solutions in the field of food security and agriculture. Here are five reasons why you should apply for the 2023 Kenyan Agri-Drone Business Competition:

  1. Training and mentorship: The competition is a hybrid training program that will provide 25 selected participants the chance to learn from seasoned drone professionals at the Global Air Drone Academy (GADA), a FAA-certified non-profit drone training academy based in Baltimore, USA. The training will cover a range of topics including how to apply drone technology to practical solutions, safe drone operation, using drones to combat food insecurity and the fundamentals of launching a successful drone business.

  2. Remote Pilots License (RPL) training: The top three winners will receive training for an RPL through a scholarship to a KCAA-approved drone training academy. This is a great opportunity to gain the necessary skills and qualifications to operate drones in a safe and legal manner.

  3. Business coaching: The top three winners and three existing businesses will enter into a 12-week drone business coaching program to help them launch, grow, and scale their businesses. This is a great opportunity to receive guidance and support from experienced professionals to help turn your business ideas into reality.

  4. Skydio donation: American drone manufacturer Skydio will donate three Skydio 2+ drones and Cinema Kits to the top three winners of the competition. This is a great opportunity to gain access to state-of-the-art drone technology that can help you take your business to the next level.

  5. Networking opportunities: The competition provides an opportunity to connect with other young entrepreneurs, as well as seasoned professionals in the drone industry. This can help to build valuable connections that can help you in your future business endeavors.

Registration for the 2023 Kenyan Drone Business Competition is now open, and applications will be accepted until Monday, February 13th, 11:59pm.
